Website: http://www.mecinstitute.org/programs

About the Institution: MECI Jordan is established as a locally registered international NGO with a thriving office in Amman. For the 2016/2017 academic year, MECI will serve 6,900 vulnerable children in 20 schools in partnership with UNICEF and the Malala Fund. Their program targets children ages 6-12, who do not reside in refugee camps. MECI reaches these children through Syrian counsellors, hired from a pool of local applicants using MECI's strict criteria. Children enrolled are placed in level 1, 2 or 3 depending on their performance on a MECI-administered placement test. MECI has created unique curricula for three levels of learning in three subjects: English, Math, and Arabic. Each curriculum has been accepted by the Jordanian Ministry of Education.

Life Skills-Related: Program Benefits include: Basic Literacy and Numeracy through math, Arabic and English; Extracurricular activities, including art, drama, music, athletics, and dance; Life skills; Cooperation between Jordanian and Syrian students through program activities; Parent and community awareness workshops on the importance of education, health and hygiene.
